We are honored to invite you to participate in Durham’s first annual “Women’s Equality March and Rally” on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm in downtown Durham. We will recognize women’s progress and champion the continued push for women’s equal rights. This year the theme is “Women’s Equality Through Time.” Event details can be found HERE or on Facebook.
The event follows national “Women’s Equality Day,” which occurs earlier in the week on Wednesday, August 26. Details are forthcoming regarding a Mayoral Proclamation and a press conference scheduled for that day by March and Rally organizers.
“Women’s Equality Day” commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting American women the right to vote in 1920. This occasion has been celebrated since 1973 by Presidential Proclamation. The victory of “Women's Equality Day” will be celebrated at our March and Rally on Friday when we mark this special occasion and take the opportunity to join forces to push forward on eliminating all discrimination against women.
For more information about the event, contact Gloria De Los Santos, Durham Director, Action NC at firstname.lastname@example.org, 919-794-8210 or Gailya Paliga, President NC National Organization for Women at email@example.com, 919-539-7702.
